Clubs, trolleys and buggies are available for hire too.
The 18 hole course at Paultons Golf is a parkland course combining open fairways and woodland scenery and providing a fun and satisfying challenge for golfers of all abilities. Our greens are USGA spec, which means they drain really well. The trick has traditionally been to make your score on the front nine and then hang on tight over the back nine, as the trees come more into play, but we’re widening the fairways to make some of the tee shots a little less daunting
The 11th is notable for its lovely approach to the green, downhill, funneling in between oaks and pines to an undulating green. A 344 yard par 4, it doglegs right with out of bounds down the right hand side to make you think twice about cutting any corners. The smart tee shot is a long iron or 3 wood to leave a 150 yard approach to the green, which is slightly raised and falls away to the front, back and right.
The 15th is considered our signature hole. Par 3 over water, an excellent opportunity for a hole-in-one, failing that satisfy yourself with a birdie, before moving on to the two toughest holes of the course. Come up short with your tee shot and you’ll find yourself in the water.
The tricky 430 yard, par 4 16th begins with a long, straight drive uphill, avoiding trees on the left and a stream that runs along the right for 330 yards. There’s a fairway bunker on the left at 240 yards but run your drive up close and you’ll have a chance of making the green, which is elevated with a bunker ready to catch you if you fall short to the left. Negotiate the undulating contours for a par and you’ll deserve a pat on the back.
“A member now for a number of years and love the place. The staff are great. The green keepers have made some good subtle changes to some of the holes. The rough does get a little unfair at this time of year, but in all a great test.” – LC
